I have so much to say on this one, so bear with me. First, a general stereotype of a monster is this: Hideous, dark soul, no heart, destroys everything in its path. My definition of a monster is: A creature, who is damned by society, and walks alone to survive because no one wants to get near it. A monster, like Frankenstien and Edward Scissorhands, hurts inside from lonliness. I watched a few movies last night and realized what monsters are like. They're like us. I read an interview with Marilyn Manson, and he said something like, "Everyone expects me to be a 'Shock Rocker", but it's impossible to be shocking anymore, just confusing. Never empty the bucket of mystery." He makes a valid point. With artists like Mushroomhead and Slipknot(Making a Comeback :D), Many artists would have a horrible time being shocking in this day and age. However, Moksha's video for "Take this smile" is just messed up on so many levels, and I suggest watching it to see for yourself. I was sent a link to it, and thought,"What the hell? I have nothing better to do" so I watched it, and the video shows a guy basiclly being tortured. This video, along with "Your soul is mine" by Mushroomhead and anything video by Motionless in White(The Whorror), is a good representation of how people can take aspects of horror-inflicted music making itself known. Even some Dubstep artists, Like Skrillex, have some horrific music, and I listen to it. Hell, Skrillex is on Korn's new album, The Path of Totality. And some parents think that this, along with Metal, Screamo, any type of -core genre, and even some pop music, is evil, but they are just as wrong as parents were when Kiss and ACDC came out. I'm half tempted to crank out some Slipknot.
And by the way, I'm excited for Warped Tour this year! Hell yeah!
